Welcome to Ollie's Safe Haven.

Named in honor of Ollie, Ollie's Safe Haven is one of the specialized spaces within a Rainy Day Rescue, where adult cats begin their journey toward a brighter future.  While many of the cats who come through Ollie's Safe Haven are feral or have had little to no positive human interaction, we believe every cat deserves the opportunity to be understood, respected, and loved. 

Rather than expecting immediate trust, we allow each cat to move at their own pace, in their own space, within a free roaming living area where they can decompress, observe, and slowly discover that people can be kind without ever forcing interaction.

One of the most valuable parts of Ollie's Safe Haven is its permanent resident cats. These confident, social cats help welcome new arrivals and demonstrate that people can be trusted. As they interact with us through play, affection, and everyday routines, many of our fearful cats begin watching from a distance. Over time, curiosity often replaces fear, and they start taking those first small steps toward trusting people themselves.

Through patience, consistency, compassionate care, and the guidance of their feline role models, many of our most fearful feral cats learn to feel safe, confident, and loved for the very first time. Others may never enjoy human affection, and that's okay too. Every cat is different, and our goal is never to force an outcome. In the rare case that a cat truly cannot adapt to indoor life, the kindest choice may be to allow them to live outdoors after they have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and given the best chance to live a healthy life.

Whether a cat becomes a lap companion, prefers to admire us from across the room, or simply chooses a different path altogether, they don't have to earn their place here. As long as they're healthy, safe, and living the life that's best for them, they'll always have a place at Ollie's Safe Haven.
